Traffic on the A-52 was disrupted this Friday morning after a multiple collision involving six vehicles occurred at kilometer 239 of the road, in the Toén area, leaving at least three people injured. The incident occurred near the Alongos tunnel and beneath the viaducts connecting to the AG-53.
The stretch of road where the collision occurred is one of the main access routes to the city of Ourense and accumulates significant traffic flow during morning hours. The circulation issues were particularly noticeable at the exit towards the roundabout linking with the AG-53.
A key corridor in Galicia
The A-52 is one of the primary axes connecting the interior of Galicia with neighboring regions, so incidents like the one this Friday immediately impact traffic. The proximity to the Alongos tunnel and the link with the AG-53 concentrates junctions and lane changes that require constant attention from drivers.
Reopening the road
Following the collision, the affected vehicles had to be removed to restore normal traffic flow in the direction of Ourense. The extent of the injuries is unknown, nor whether any of the injured required hospital transfer.
Accidents involving multiple vehicles are among the most complicated to manage due to the difficulty of disentangling the causes and the need to clear several vehicles simultaneously, as seen this morning on the Toén road.
